Photography Rights for Businesses on Social Media

So, you’ve already got the idea for your next social media post, and all you need now is a photo. You go onto Google Images and find a perfect image for your post, and then ten days later, you get a fine for using a copyrighted image. This is a scenario that businesses big and small alike want to avoid. So how can you avoid copyright and still get that perfect image?

1.    Create One Yourself

We realize that this one takes some effort, but there are plenty of advantages to going this route. If you take a photo yourself, you don’t have to worry about infringing on copyrighted images. Snapping a photo can also be the best way of showing off your brand logo or getting a shot that perfectly fits your theme.

2.    Use Free Image Websites

Websites like Unsplash and Pexels have free photos that you can download and use for both commercial and non-commercial use. If you decide to use free-image websites, always double-check the photos don’t have any restrictions for commercial use. There are cases where photographers restrict how their images can be used, even if they are free.

3.    Share Customer Photos with Permission

There’s no greater advertisement than showing people at your location having a great experience with your business. Just always make sure to get permission from the people you photograph before posting photos of them anywhere on social media. It’s especially important to get explicit permission when it comes to photos of children for the sake of protecting their privacy.

If stock photos aren’t cutting it for what you need, or you don’t want to worry about accidentally using copyrighted images, My Social Lady offers photography & videography services where we provide professional photos for all your brand needs.
