PARC Story - Meet Elijah

PARC provides Community Employment Services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our programs offer a wide range of pre-employment and employment programming through day and community programming that allows individuals to gain independence. Individuals learn employability skills, socialization, daily living, and self-advocacy skills in safe, supervised environments.

Meet Elijah, who has participated in PARC’s Community Employment Services for many years.  Elijah has maintained employment at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital for over three years, having perfect attendance and receiving the highest rating on operative safe cleanliness at the hospital. His charismatic personality will greet you with a big smile and help you with anything at the hospital from collecting donations, distributing supplies and cleaning toys throughout the hospital. He is a remarkable man who also participated in track and field during the summer and continues to compete in other sporting events throughout the year. Most recently, Elijah has accomplished one of his lifelong learning goals to live independently, and he moved into his very own apartment. Elijah is a model to follow, given all of his accomplishments and perseverance to be the best that he can be every day.
