Linkedin Tips
With the way the world has such easy access to online sources for eligible employees, its more important now than every to stand out. Linkedin is one of the best ways for employers and potential employees to link up. So, with there being so many profiles out there, how do you stand out above the crowd?
These 3 steps may seem simple, but they are powerful.
1. First impressions: The first visuals someone will see on your profile, are your profile picture and headline. Always be sure your profile picture is professional, as if you’d put it on a business card. It is also important that your headline is unique, and not cliché. Never make it too personal, and avoid using a lot of words. Three to five captivating words is all you need. Bonus: A very small percentage of users have a background photo. It is another way to have employers stop and look at how you are different from everyone else, and why they need you.
2. If you have it, use it: Multimedia is a powerful tool. Do you have a video or pictures of a project that you are proud of? Add it! Upload it to your profile and let your talents be seen.
3. Use your words: Don’t use the same phrases everyone else does. How are you going to get noticed if you are using the same boring ‘professional’ words and phrases everyone else is using? How do you stand out? You cant. Expand your vocabulary to be different than everyone else in the pool. Especially in your profile summary. Use key words that are unique and specific to you and your skills.
These are just a few of many tips on how to enhance your Linkedin profile. Keep and eye out for additional tips in the future!
