Getting Started with Video as a Business Owner

Video can be a daunting area of social media to get into, especially with little experience. However, according to Wyzowl, 73% of people preferred watching a short video about a product or service over reading an article, webpage, post, or e-book. To help you navigate the video-driven side of social media marketing, today we’ll be focusing on four basic video formats to consider when designing video content.

Pre-Recorded Video With a Script

If you have a very specific message you are trying to get across, or you need some extra refinement and planning for your video, scripting is a great way to take control of your content and streamline it before a single person clicks play.

Pre-Recorded Video With a Bullet List

Sometimes people just need the facts laid out to them in a simple and straightforward way, and bullet list videos are ideal for breaking down complex topics or providing an FAQ for your business.

Pre-Recorded Video With No Written Support

If you don’t have the time, or you want to be as natural as possible, sometimes a video without a script is the best way to go. This can be great for things like Q&A’s, fun or informal videos demonstrating your product or service, and more.

Live Video

While pre-recorded videos allow you to edit and control the creative process, live video allows you to engage with people online directly in real-time, which can be great for hosting online events and interviews.

No matter the format you use for your video creation, quality and consistency are key in generating the best ROI (return on investment). Even if you can only put out a video every three months, it’s better than putting out daily videos that add very little value to the people watching your content. Your business provides quality products and services—make sure people know it by reflecting that same excellence in your videos!
